Put your country at the center.
Make a familiar place the starting point. Discover how changing the center changes the map around it.
Before you unfold
If your country moves to the center, what do you think will happen to the countries near the map’s edges?
Try it yourself
- Open the experiment. Under the map, use the country search to choose your country, or another place you know. Leave “Centered on your view” selected.
- Select “Unfold Earth.” Watch your chosen place as the map opens. Pause or move the transformation slider to look more closely.
- Return to Earth using the slider’s Earth endpoint. Choose a country on another continent, then unfold again.
- Try “Classic orientation.” Compare the new layout with the two views you made.
